Garnet Jex

Garnet Wolesey Jex (1895–1979) was an American artist, historian, and medical illustrator. He is best known for his paintings depicting the American Civil War and the history of the Shenandoah Valley.
Early Life and Education
Garnet Jex was born in Washington, D.C. in 1895. He developed an interest in art at an early age and pursued formal education in the field. Jex attended the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, where he honed his skills in painting and illustration.
Career
Jex's career spanned several decades and included work as a medical illustrator, painter, and historian. During World War I, he served in the United States Army as a medical illustrator, creating detailed anatomical drawings for medical training and documentation.
