Garbage (/ˈɡɑːrbɪdʒ/), also known as trash, waste, or rubbish, is a term for unwanted or undesired material or substance. It is often the byproduct of human activity and can be classified into different types such as biodegradable waste, recyclable waste, hazardous waste, and more.
Etymology
The term "garbage" originated from the Anglo-French word "garbler" which means "to sift". It was first used in the English language in the late 15th century to refer to waste from food processing.
