Galeopsis tetrahit is an annual herbaceous plant that typically grows to a height of 20 to 60 cm. The stems are square in cross-section, a characteristic feature of the Lamiaceae family, and are often covered with bristly hairs. The flowers of Galeopsis tetrahit are bilaterally symmetrical and are arranged in whorls at the axils of the upper leaves.
