Frisco

Frisco is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and is approximately 25 miles (40 km) from both Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The city population was 116,989 at the 2010 census. As of December 1, 2020, the city population was estimated at 200,490. Frisco was the fastest-growing city in the United States in 2009, and also the fastest-growing city in the nation from 2000 to 2009.

History

Frisco, Texas, originated from the pioneers who settled in the area in the mid-1800s. The community was named after the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway, which was commonly referred to as the "Frisco" line, that came through the area.

Geography

Frisco is located in northeastern Collin County and western Denton County at 33°08′29″N 96°48′47″W. The city's elevation is 774 feet (236 m).

Economy

Frisco's economy is diverse and robust, with a mix of retail, corporate, and industrial businesses. Major employers in the city include the Frisco Independent School District, T-Mobile USA, and Oracle Corporation.

Education

Frisco is served by the Frisco Independent School District. The district is one of the fastest growing in the United States.

Sports

Frisco is home to several sporting venues, teams, and facilities. These include the Dr Pepper Ballpark, Toyota Stadium, and the Ford Center at The Star.

Transportation

Frisco is served by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) with the Frisco Station. The city is also intersected by several major roadways including the Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121.
