Friedman

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Friedman is a surname of Jewish origin that means "free man". In the context of medical terminology, it is often associated with various medical conditions and syndromes, named after the doctors who discovered them. Some of these include the Friedman Syndrome, Friedman Test, and Friedman's Curve.

Friedman Syndrome[edit]

Friedman Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by severe mental and physical retardation, microcephaly, and death in early childhood. The syndrome is named after Dr. Robert Friedman, who first described the condition in 1967.

Friedman Test[edit]

The Friedman Test is a non-parametric statistical test developed by Milton Friedman. It is used in the analysis of variance when the assumption of normality is violated. In the medical field, it is often used in clinical trials to compare the effects of different treatments on the same group of patients.

Friedman's Curve[edit]

Friedman's Curve is a graphical representation of the typical progress of labor, named after Dr. Emanuel Friedman who first published it in 1955. It is used as a guide to assess whether labor is progressing normally or if interventions may be necessary.
