The Flatiron District is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It is named after the Flatiron Building, a landmark structure located at 175 Fifth Avenue. The district is bounded by 14th Street to the south, 23rd Street to the north, Park Avenue South to the east, and Sixth Avenue to the west. The Flatiron District overlaps with parts of the Ladies' Mile Historic District and the Madison Square North Historic District.

History

The Flatiron District's name derives from the iconic Flatiron Building, completed in 1902. The area was originally part of the Ladies' Mile shopping district, which was a prime retail area during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
