Fitzrovia is a district in central London, near London's West End. It is situated between Bloomsbury and Marylebone and straddles the boundary of the London Borough of Camden and the City of Westminster. Fitzrovia has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. The area was developed by the Fitzroy family, from whom it takes its name. The name "Fitzrovia" was coined in the late 1930s by the writer and artist Julian MacLaren-Ross.
