Feral

Feral (/ˈfɪərəl/, /ˈfɛrəl/) is a term often used in biology and ecology to describe organisms that have escaped from domestication and returned, partly or wholly, to their wild state.

Etymology

The term "feral" is derived from the Latin ferus, meaning "wild" or "untamed". It was first used in English during the early 17th century to describe wild, untamed animals.
