Expert (/ˈɛkspərt/), from the Latin expertus meaning "tried, tested, experienced", is a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.
Etymology
The term expert is derived from the Latin word expertus, which is the past participle of experiri meaning "to try, test". It was first used in English in the early 19th century.
