The Euan MacDonald Centre (pronounced: /ˈjuːən məkˈdɒnəld/), is a medical research institution based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Centre is named after Euan MacDonald, a person living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), who co-founded the Centre with his father, Donald MacDonald.
Etymology
The Euan MacDonald Centre is named after its co-founder, Euan MacDonald. Euan was diagnosed with MND in 2003, and together with his father, Donald MacDonald, they established the Centre to advance research into MND and related conditions.
History
The Euan MacDonald Centre was established in 2007 at the University of Edinburgh. The Centre's mission is to find ways to slow, stop or reverse the progression of MND, improve symptom management, and enhance the quality of life of people affected by MND.
Research
The Euan MacDonald Centre conducts a wide range of research into MND. This includes basic science research to understand the biology of MND, clinical research to develop and test new treatments, and health services research to improve care for people with MND.
