Estriol dihexanoate
Estriol Dihexanoate is a synthetic, steroidal estrogen that is used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for the treatment of menopausal symptoms. It is a derivative of estriol, one of the three main estrogens produced by the human body.
Chemistry[edit]
Estriol Dihexanoate is a hexanoate ester of estriol. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in organic solvents and slightly soluble in water. The chemical formula of estriol dihexanoate is C30H48O5 and its molecular weight is 488.7 g/mol.
Pharmacology[edit]
Estriol Dihexanoate acts as an agonist of the estrogen receptor, the biological target of estrogens. It has a high affinity for the estrogen receptor and mimics the effects of natural estrogens in the body.
Clinical Use[edit]
Estriol Dihexanoate is used in hormone replacement therapy to treat symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. It is also used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Side Effects[edit]
Like other estrogens, estriol dihexanoate can have side effects. These may include breast tenderness, nausea, bloating, and an increased risk of certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer and endometrial cancer.
