This is crucial for normal hearing and balance functions. The endolymph within the inner ear is rich in potassium, which is essential for the transduction of sound vibrations into electrical signals that the brain can interpret as sound. The regulation of endolymph volume and pressure by the endolymphatic duct and sac is also important for preventing conditions such as Ménière's disease, which is characterized by episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss.

Clinical Significance
