Endocervix - (pronounced) (EN-doh-SER-vix) The inner part of the cervix that forms a canal that connects the vagina to the uterus. The endocervix is lined with glandular cells that produce mucus. During a pelvic exam, cells may be scraped from the endocervix so they can be examined under a microscope for infection, inflammation, cervical cancer, or changes that can lead to cervical cancer. A type of cervical cancer that starts in cells of the endocervix is called cervical adenocarcinoma. Also called the endocervical canal
