Empire Interactive was established in 1987 by Ian Higgins and Simon Jeffrey. The company initially focused on publishing games for the Amiga and Atari ST platforms. Over the years, Empire Interactive expanded its reach to include other platforms such as Microsoft Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Empire Interactive became known for publishing popular titles such as the FlatOut series and the Starsky & Hutch game. The company also published games in the Total Immersion Racing and Pro Pinball series.
Despite its successes, Empire Interactive faced financial difficulties in the mid-2000s. In 2006, the company was acquired by Silverstar Holdings, a US-based company. However, financial challenges persisted, and Empire Interactive eventually went into administration in 2009.
