EHealth (pronounced /iː'hɛlθ/) is a relatively recent term for healthcare practice supported by electronic processes and communication, dating back to at least 1999.

Etymology

The term combines the prefix e- (a shortened form of electronic), denoting something that is carried out over the internet or other electronic network, with health, referring to the state of being free from illness or injury.

EHealth encompasses a range of services or systems that are at the edge of medicine/healthcare and information technology, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Telemedicine, Health Information Systems (HIS), mHealth, Health Analytics, and Virtual Healthcare.
