Downs is a village in McLean County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 1,005. Downs is part of the Bloomington–Normal metropolitan area.

History

Downs was laid out in 1870 when the Chicago and Alton Railroad was extended to that point. The village was named for Lawson Downs, a local landowner. A post office has been in operation at Downs since 1870.

Demographics

As of the census of 2020, there were 1,005 people, 365 households, and 276 families residing in the village. The population density was 405.24 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the village was predominantly White, with small percentages of other races.

Education

Downs is served by the Tri-Valley Community Unit School District 3, which includes Tri-Valley High School, Tri-Valley Middle School, and Tri-Valley Elementary School.
