Doctors of BC (pronunciation: /ˈdɒktərz ɒv biː siː/), also known as the British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA), is a professional organization that represents 14,000 physicians, medical residents and medical students in the province of British Columbia.

Etymology

The term Doctors of BC is derived from the organization's mission to represent all doctors in the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada. The term BC is an abbreviation for British Columbia.

History

The Doctors of BC was established in 1900 as the British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA). The organization changed its name to Doctors of BC in 2013 to better reflect its membership and mission.

The Doctors of BC works to promote a social, economic, and political climate in which members can provide the citizens of BC with the highest standard of health care. The organization also advocates for health and safety, professional development, and public policy on behalf of its members.
