Diversity - (pronounced) (dih-VER-sih-tee) Having people with different physical, social, and personal characteristics or traits in a group or organization. These characteristics may include race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual identity, religion, physical and mental ability, language, income, and education. Diversity can also include different life experiences, cultural backgrounds, beliefs and interests within a group. Efforts are made in cancer research to increase the diversity of people participating in clinical trials so that study results represent a broader group of people who would most likely benefit from the treatment or intervention being studied
