The Disney Dining Plan is a pre-paid meal package offered at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. This plan allows guests to pay for their meals in advance and use meal credits at various dining locations throughout the resort. The Disney Dining Plan is available to guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and can be added to a Walt Disney World vacation package.

Overview[edit]

The Disney Dining Plan offers several tiers, each providing a different combination of meal credits. These tiers include:

  • Quick-Service Dining Plan: This plan includes credits for quick-service meals, which are typically counter-service restaurants where guests order at a counter and seat themselves.
  • Standard Dining Plan: This plan includes a mix of quick-service and table-service meal credits, allowing guests to dine at both counter-service and sit-down restaurants.
  • Deluxe Dining Plan: This plan offers the most flexibility, providing multiple meal credits that can be used at any combination of quick-service and table-service restaurants.

Each plan also includes snack credits, which can be used for items such as ice cream, popcorn, and beverages.

Participating Locations[edit]

The Disney Dining Plan can be used at a variety of dining locations across the Walt Disney World Resort, including:

How It Works[edit]

Guests receive a certain number of meal and snack credits based on the number of nights they stay at a Disney Resort hotel. These credits are loaded onto the guest's MagicBand or Key to the World card, which can be scanned at participating dining locations to redeem meals and snacks.

Benefits[edit]

The Disney Dining Plan offers several benefits, including:

  • Convenience: Meals are pre-paid, reducing the need to carry cash or credit cards.
  • Flexibility: Guests can choose from a wide variety of dining options.
  • Value: The plan can offer savings compared to paying for meals out-of-pocket, especially for families and those who plan to dine at more expensive restaurants.

Criticisms[edit]

Some guests have criticized the Disney Dining Plan for being too restrictive, as it requires advance planning and reservations for table-service restaurants. Additionally, not all dining locations participate in the plan, and some guests may find it difficult to use all of their meal credits.

History[edit]

The Disney Dining Plan was introduced in 2005 as part of the "Magic Your Way" vacation package. Since its inception, the plan has undergone several changes, including the addition of new tiers and the inclusion of alcoholic beverages for guests over 21.
