Demographic information (pronunciation: /dɪˌmɒɡræfɪk ɪnˈfɔːməʃən/) refers to selected population characteristics as used in government, marketing or opinion research, or any other group of entities from which data is collected.
Etymology
The term "demographic" comes from the Greek words "demos" meaning people and "grapho" meaning to write. The term "information" comes from the Latin word "informare" which means to shape the mind.
