Deep dorsal vein of clitoris

Deep dorsal vein of clitoris, as part of the clitoral vascular system.

The Deep dorsal vein of clitoris is a blood vessel that drains the clitoris. It is part of the clitoral vascular system, which is responsible for the blood supply to the clitoris. The deep dorsal vein of clitoris is located on the dorsal side of the clitoris, running along the length of the clitoral body.

Anatomy

The deep dorsal vein of clitoris originates from the clitoral glans, and runs along the dorsal side of the clitoral body. It is located between the two corpora cavernosa of the clitoris. The vein then drains into the pelvic veins, which eventually lead to the inferior vena cava.

Function

The primary function of the deep dorsal vein of clitoris is to drain deoxygenated blood from the clitoris. This is an important part of the clitoral erection process, as it helps to maintain the balance of blood flow in the clitoris during sexual arousal.

Clinical significance

Understanding the anatomy of the deep dorsal vein of clitoris is important in several medical procedures, including clitoral surgery and genital piercing. It is also relevant in the study of sexual health, particularly in relation to female sexual arousal disorder.
