History

Formation and Early Years (1982–1986)

Death Angel was formed in 1982 by cousins Rob Cavestany (lead guitar), Dennis Pepa (bass), Gus Pepa (rhythm guitar), and Andy Galeon (drums), with Mark Osegueda joining as the lead vocalist in 1984. The band quickly gained a reputation in the Bay Area thrash scene for their energetic live performances and youthful vigor, with most members being teenagers at the time of their first album.

The Ultra-Violence and Frolic Through the Park (1987–1989)

In 1987, Death Angel released their debut album, The Ultra-Violence, which was well received for its technical musicianship and complex song structures. Following the success of their debut, the band released Frolic Through the Park in 1988, which showcased a more diverse sound, incorporating elements of funk and punk into their thrash metal roots.
