Darrell Wilkinson
American football player
Darrell Wilkinson (born March 15, 1990) is a former American football player known for his time as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he led the team to a national championship.
Early life and education
Wilkinson was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Hoover High School, where he excelled in both football and basketball. As a high school quarterback, he was known for his strong arm and leadership skills on the field.
After graduating from high school, Wilkinson received a scholarship to play football at the University of Alabama. During his college career, he majored in sports management and was a standout player for the Crimson Tide.
College career
Wilkinson played for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2008 to 2011. As a starting quarterback, he led the team to a national championship in 2011. His performance in the championship game was particularly notable, as he threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.
During his college career, Wilkinson was known for his ability to read defenses and make quick decisions under pressure. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in his senior year and was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year.
Professional career
Wilkinson was drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He played for the Jets for four seasons, during which he became known for his resilience and ability to perform in high-pressure situations.
In 2016, Wilkinson signed with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played for two seasons before retiring from professional football in 2018. Throughout his NFL career, Wilkinson was praised for his work ethic and leadership both on and off the field.
