Dale G. Renlund
Dale G. Renlund is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He was born on November 13, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Renlund was sustained as an apostle on October 3, 2015.
Early Life and Education
Renlund was born to Matti Vilho Renlund and Marianne Renlund, who were Finnish immigrants. He grew up in Salt Lake City and attended East High School. He later served a mission for the LDS Church in Sweden.
Renlund earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Utah. He completed his medical and research training at Johns Hopkins University.
Medical Career
Renlund specialized in cardiology and heart failure. He served as a professor of medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and was the medical director of the Utah Transplantation Affiliated Hospitals Cardiac Transplant Program.
Church Service
Before his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Renlund served in various capacities within the LDS Church, including as a bishop, stake president, and Area Seventy. He was called as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy in 2009.
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Renlund was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 2015, during the 185th Semiannual General Conference of the LDS Church. As an apostle, he is regarded as a prophet, seer, and revelator.
Personal Life
Renlund married Ruth Lybbert in 1977. They have one daughter. Ruth Renlund is a lawyer and has been actively involved in various church and community activities.
Publications
Renlund has authored several articles and books on medical topics, particularly in the field of cardiology and heart transplantation.
