Crisis management (pronunciation: /ˈkraɪsɪs mænɪdʒmənt/) is the process by which an organization deals with a disruptive and unexpected event that threatens to harm the organization or its stakeholders.

Etymology

The term "crisis management" is derived from the Greek word 'krisis' meaning 'decision' and the Latin word 'maneggiare' meaning 'to handle'.
