Crepe

Crepe (pronounced: /krɛp/) is a type of very thin pancake, usually made from wheat flour. The word is of French origin, derived from the Latin crispa, meaning "curled". While crepes are often associated with Brittany, a region in the northwest of France, their consumption is widespread in France, Belgium, Canada, and many parts of Europe, North Africa, and the Southern Cone of South America.

In medicine, the term "crepe" is also used to refer to a type of bandage with a crinkled texture, known as a Crepe bandage. This bandage is used for providing light support to minor sprains and strains and can also be used for dressing retention.

Etymology

The term "crepe" comes from the Latin crispa, which means "curled". This is in reference to the crinkled texture of the bandage, which resembles the thin, crinkled texture of a crepe pancake.
