Consumer Behavior

Consumer behavior (pronounced: kənˈsjuːmər bɪˈheɪvjər) refers to the study of individuals, groups, or organizations and the processes they use to select, secure, use, and dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and society.

Etymology

The term "consumer behavior" is derived from the English words "consumer" and "behavior". The word "consumer" comes from the Latin consumere which means "to use up, eat, waste", and "behavior" is derived from the Old French behaivior which means "conduct, demeanor".
