Short definitionComputed tomography angiography - (pronounced) (kum-PYOO-ted toh-MAH-gruh-fee an-jee-AH-gruh-fee) procedure that uses X-rays to create a series of detailed images of the blood vessels and blood flow in the body. The images are taken from different angles and created by a computer connected to an X-ray machine. A dye is injected into a vein to make the blood vessels and blood flow easier to see on the X-ray. Computed tomography angiography can be used to look for aneurysms (a bulge in the wall of a blood vessel), blockages in the arteries, blood clots, and other blood vessel problems. Also called CT angiography and CTA
