Clinical Laboratory

A Clinical Laboratory (pronounced: klin-i-kal lab-or-a-tory) is a Healthcare facility where various types of medical tests are performed on clinical specimens to obtain information about the health of a patient. The term originates from the Latin word clinicus, meaning bedridden or confined to bed, and the Greek word laboratorium, meaning a place for labor or work.

Types of Clinical Laboratories

There are several types of clinical laboratories, including:

  • Pathology Labs: These labs specialize in the diagnosis of disease based on the laboratory analysis of bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, as well as tissues.
