Chitra Bharucha (pronunciation: /ˈtʃɪtrə bɑːˈruːzə/) is a prominent figure in the field of Haematology and Healthcare in the United Kingdom.
Etymology
The name "Chitra" is of Sanskrit origin and means "picture" or "beautiful". "Bharucha" is a common surname in the Parsi community, originating from the city of Bharuch in Gujarat, India.
Career
Chitra Bharucha is a retired Consultant Haematologist who has made significant contributions to the medical field. She served as the Vice Chairman of the BBC Trust from 2007 to 2011. Prior to this, she was the acting Chairman of the BBC Trust from November 2006 to May 2007.
Bharucha has also held several other notable positions, including the Chair of the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO) and the Deputy Director of the Public Health Laboratory Service (PHLS).
