Chanel is a French luxury fashion house founded by Coco Chanel in 1910. The brand specializes in haute couture, ready-to-wear clothing, luxury goods, and accessories. Chanel is renowned for its timeless designs, including the Chanel No. 5 perfume and the Chanel suit.

History

Chanel was established by Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel in 1910. Initially, Chanel started as a millinery shop at 21 Rue Cambon, Paris. The brand quickly gained popularity for its elegant and simplistic designs, which contrasted sharply with the elaborate and restrictive fashion of the time.

Early Years

In the 1920s, Chanel introduced the Chanel No. 5 perfume, which became an iconic product of the brand. The perfume was revolutionary for its use of synthetic components and its complex, multi-layered scent. During this period, Chanel also introduced the Chanel suit, a symbol of modern femininity and elegance.

Post-War Era

After a brief hiatus during World War II, Chanel returned to the fashion world in 1954. The brand continued to innovate, introducing the 2.55 handbag in February 1955, which featured a quilted design and a chain strap.

Modern Era

In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld took over as the creative director of Chanel. Under his leadership, the brand continued to thrive, blending traditional Chanel elements with modern trends. After Lagerfeld's death in 2019, Virginie Viard succeeded him as the creative director.
