Cariñena DOP (Denominación de Origen Protegida Cariñena) is a Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines located in the province of Zaragoza in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It is one of the oldest protected wine-growing regions in Spain, having been established in 1932.
Geography
Cariñena DOP is situated in the Ebro Valley, which is known for its diverse terroir. The region is characterized by its stony, clay, and limestone soils, which contribute to the unique qualities of the wines produced here. The vineyards are located at altitudes ranging from 400 to 800 meters above sea level.
