Capcom was originally established as Japan Capsule Computers in 1979. The company later shortened its name to Capcom. The company initially focused on the manufacture and distribution of electronic game machines. In 1983, Capcom released its first arcade game, Vulgus. The success of this game led to the development of more arcade titles, including 1942 and Ghosts 'n Goblins.
