Calvin Harrison
Calvin Harrison (born January 20, 1974) is an American sprinter who specializes in the 400 meters. He is known for his contributions to the United States track and field team, particularly in the 4 × 400 meters relay.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Calvin Harrison was born in Orlando, Florida. He attended North Salinas High School in Salinas, California, where he began to show promise as a sprinter. Harrison later attended San Jose State University, where he continued to develop his athletic skills.
Athletic Career[edit]
Harrison's career took off in the late 1990s. He became a prominent figure in the 400 meters, a race that requires both speed and endurance. His personal best in the 400 meters is 44.64 seconds, achieved in 2000.
2000 Summer Olympics[edit]
Calvin Harrison was a member of the United States track and field team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He competed in the 4 × 400 meters relay, where the team initially won the gold medal. However, the team was later disqualified due to a doping violation by one of the team members.
World Championships[edit]
Harrison also competed in the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. He was part of the 4 × 400 meters relay team that won gold in the 1999 World Championships in Seville, Spain.
Personal Life[edit]
Calvin Harrison has a twin brother, Alvin Harrison, who is also a sprinter. The Harrison twins have often competed together in relay events, contributing to the success of the United States track and field team.
