The COVID-19 pandemic in Sikkim is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first case in the Indian state of Sikkim was reported on 23 May 2020.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020, and a pandemic on 11 March 2020. The first case of COVID-19 in India was reported on 30 January 2020 in the state of Kerala.

2020[edit]

On 23 May 2020, Sikkim reported its first COVID-19 case. The patient was a 25-year-old male who had returned from Delhi. Following this, the state government implemented strict measures to contain the spread of the virus, including lockdowns and travel restrictions.

2021[edit]

In 2021, Sikkim saw a rise in COVID-19 cases, mirroring the national trend. The state government ramped up testing and vaccination efforts. By mid-2021, Sikkim had vaccinated a significant portion of its population, focusing on frontline workers and vulnerable groups.
