Businessman (pronunciation: /ˈbɪznɪsmæn/) is a term that refers to an individual involved in the business sector – in particular someone undertaking activities (commercial or industrial) for the purpose of generating cash flow, sales, and revenue utilizing a combination of human, financial, intellectual and physical capital with a view to fueling economic development and growth.
Etymology
The term "businessman" is derived from the words "business" and the suffix "-man". The word "business" comes from the Old English bisignis which was formed by the combination of bisig (busy) and -nis (-ness). The suffix "-man" comes from the Old English mann which means human, person or man.
