Brian Thomas Littrell (born February 20, 1975) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor, best known as a member of the Backstreet Boys. He is also a contemporary Christian music artist and released a solo album, Welcome Home, in 2006.
Early life
Brian Littrell was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He is the cousin of fellow Backstreet Boys member Kevin Richardson. Littrell was raised in a Baptist family and attended Tates Creek High School.
Career
Backstreet Boys
In 1993, Littrell joined the Backstreet Boys after being invited by his cousin Kevin Richardson. The group achieved worldwide fame with hits such as "I Want It That Way", "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)", and "As Long as You Love Me". The Backstreet Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
Solo career
In 2006, Littrell released his first solo album, Welcome Home, which was a success in the CCM genre. The album featured singles like "In Christ Alone" and "Welcome Home (You)".
Personal life
Brian Littrell married Leighanne Wallace on September 2, 2000. They have one son, Baylee Littrell, who is also a singer and actor. Littrell has been open about his faith and often incorporates it into his music.
Health
Littrell has faced several health challenges, including a diagnosis of Kawasaki disease as a child and undergoing open-heart surgery in 1998 to correct a congenital heart defect.
Philanthropy
Littrell is involved in various charitable activities, including the Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club for Kids, which aims to promote heart health among children.
