Braddock is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated along the Monongahela River and is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The borough is named after General Edward Braddock, a British officer who played a significant role in the early stages of the French and Indian War.

History

Braddock was founded in 1755 and has a rich history tied to the early industrialization of the United States. The area was the site of the Battle of the Monongahela, where General Braddock was mortally wounded. The borough later became a significant industrial hub, particularly known for its steel production. The Edgar Thomson Steel Works, established by Andrew Carnegie in 1872, is one of the oldest steel mills in the country and continues to operate today.

Braddock is located at coordinates 40°24′15″N 79°52′1″W. It covers a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is bordered by North Braddock, Rankin, and Swissvale.
