Brașov
Brașov is a city in Romania and the administrative center of Brașov County. It is located in the central part of the country, in the historical region of Transylvania. Brașov is known for its medieval architecture, vibrant cultural scene, and picturesque setting surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains.
History
Brașov was founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211 and was first mentioned in documents in 1252. The city developed as a major trading center in the region, benefiting from its strategic location at the crossroads of trade routes between the Ottoman Empire and Western Europe. During the Middle Ages, Brașov was a fortified city with impressive defensive walls and towers, many of which still stand today.
Geography
