Borborygmus (pronounced: /bɔːrbəˈrɪɡməs/), also known as stomach rumbling, is a medical term used to describe the gurgling or rumbling noise made by the movement of gas in the gastrointestinal tract.

The term "borborygmus" is derived from the Greek word "βορβορυγμός" (borborygmó̱s), which is an onomatopoeic term for such noises.
