Blue Moon (beer)

Blue Moon is a Belgian-style wheat beer brewed by Blue Moon Brewing Company, a subsidiary of MillerCoors. It was launched in 1995 and has since become one of the most popular craft beers in the United States.
History[edit]
Blue Moon was created by Keith Villa, a brewmaster at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The beer was originally named "Bellyslide Belgian White," but it was later changed to Blue Moon.
Production[edit]
Blue Moon is brewed with malted barley, white wheat, orange peel, coriander, and oats. The beer is unfiltered, which gives it a cloudy appearance. It is typically served with a slice of orange to enhance its citrus aroma and flavor.
Varieties[edit]
In addition to the original Belgian White, Blue Moon Brewing Company offers several other varieties, including:
- Blue Moon Mango Wheat
- Blue Moon Honey Wheat
- Blue Moon Iced Coffee Blonde
- Blue Moon LightSky
Awards[edit]
Blue Moon has won several awards, including a gold medal at the World Beer Cup and a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival.
Marketing[edit]
Blue Moon is marketed as a craft beer, although it is produced by a large brewing company. This has led to some controversy within the craft beer community. Despite this, Blue Moon remains a popular choice among beer drinkers.
