Binger is a town in Caddo County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 672 at the 2010 census. Binger is known for being the headquarters of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma.

History

Binger was established in 1901, following the opening of the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache Reservation to non-Native American settlers. The town was named after a local rancher, Charles Binger.

Geography

Binger is located at 35°18′9″N 98°20′34″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km²), all land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 672 people, 269 households, and 179 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,120 people per square mile (432.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 74.4% White, 18.2% Native American, 0.4% Asian, and 6.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.

Economy

The economy of Binger is primarily based on agriculture, with a focus on wheat and cattle farming. The town also benefits from its proximity to the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma headquarters, which provides employment opportunities.

Education

Binger is served by the Binger-Oney School District, which includes Binger-Oney High School. The school district provides education from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
