Belmont Park
Belmont Park is a major thoroughbred horse-racing facility located in Elmont, New York, just east of New York City. It is operated by the New York Racing Association (NYRA) and is known for hosting the prestigious Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.
History
Belmont Park opened on May 4, 1905, and was named after financier and sportsman August Belmont Jr., who was instrumental in its establishment. The track was designed to be the most modern and luxurious racing facility of its time, featuring a grandstand that could accommodate over 33,000 spectators.
The Belmont Stakes
