Beatrice Foods Canada was a Canadian food processing company that operated from 1969 to 1990. It was a subsidiary of the American-based Beatrice Foods Co., which was one of the largest food companies in the United States at the time.

History

Beatrice Foods Canada was established in 1969 when Beatrice Foods Co. acquired several Canadian food processing companies, including Ault Foods Ltd. and Sealtest Dairy. The acquisition allowed Beatrice Foods Co. to expand its presence in the Canadian market and diversify its product offerings.

Under the ownership of Beatrice Foods Co., Beatrice Foods Canada became a major player in the Canadian food industry. The company produced a wide range of food products, including dairy products, frozen foods, and canned goods. Some of its popular brands included Beatrice, Ault, and Sealtest.

In 1987, Beatrice Foods Co. decided to divest its Canadian operations as part of a larger restructuring plan. The Canadian subsidiary was sold to Parmalat Canada, a subsidiary of the Italian-based Parmalat Group. The acquisition allowed Parmalat to strengthen its position in the Canadian market and expand its product portfolio.

After the acquisition, Beatrice Foods Canada continued to operate under the Parmalat Canada name. However, in 1990, Parmalat Canada decided to rebrand the company as Parmalat Canada and phased out the Beatrice Foods Canada brand.

Legacy

Although Beatrice Foods Canada no longer exists as a separate entity, its legacy can still be seen in the Canadian food industry. Many of the brands that were once owned by Beatrice Foods Canada, such as Ault and Sealtest, continue to be popular and widely recognized in Canada.
