Beate Uhse Erotic Museum was a museum in Berlin, Germany dedicated to the history of eroticism and sexuality. It was named after Beate Uhse-Rotermund, a pioneering German entrepreneur who founded the world's first sex shop and was a prominent advocate for sexual liberation.

History

The Beate Uhse Erotic Museum was established in 1996 by Beate Uhse-Rotermund. The museum was located in the heart of Berlin, near the famous Kurfürstendamm boulevard. It quickly became a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world who were interested in the history and cultural aspects of human sexuality.

In 1962, she opened the world's first sex shop in Flensburg, Germany, which eventually grew into a large retail chain.

Closure

The Beate Uhse Erotic Museum closed its doors in 2014 due to financial difficulties. Despite its closure, the museum remains an important part of Berlin's cultural history and a testament to Beate Uhse-Rotermund's legacy.
