The Baby-boom generation (pronunciation: /ˈbeɪbiːˌbuːm ˌdʒɛnəˈreɪʃən/) refers to the demographic cohort following the Silent Generation and preceding Generation X. The generation is most often defined as individuals born between 1946 and 1964, during the post–World War II baby boom.
Etymology
The term "Baby-boom generation" is derived from the significant increase, or "boom", in birth rates following the end of World War II. The term was first used in a 1970 article in the Washington Post.
