BJ's Restaurants was established in 1978 by Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy in Santa Ana, California. The first BJ's Restaurant & Brewery was opened in Orange County, California, with the aim of providing a casual dining experience with high-quality food and handcrafted beers.
In 1996, the company opened its first BJ's Pizza & Grill concept in Brea, California. This concept focused on offering a wider variety of menu options, including pizza, pasta, and sandwiches, while still featuring their signature handcrafted beers.
