BI-RADS

BI-RADS (pronounced /biː-rædz/), an acronym for Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System, is a risk assessment and quality assurance tool developed by the American College of Radiology. It provides a standardized system for describing mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging findings in the breast, facilitating communication between radiologists and referring physicians.

Etymology

The term "BI-RADS" is derived from the full name, Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System. It was first introduced by the American College of Radiology in 1993 to standardize the interpretation and reporting of mammographic findings.
