Autistica

Autistica is a UK-based charity that funds and campaigns for research into the causes and effects of autism. It was founded in 2004 by Dame Stephanie Shirley, who was motivated by her own experiences as a parent of a child with autism. Autistica's mission is to improve the lives of all people affected by autism by funding and promoting groundbreaking research, improving understanding of autism and advancing new therapies and interventions.

History

Autistica was originally established as the Autism Research Centre in 2004. In 2008, it was renamed Autistica following a merger with the Autism Research Trust. The charity has since grown to become the UK's leading autism research charity, having raised over £10 million for autism research.

Research
