Associated Wholesalers, Inc. (AWI) was a cooperative food distributor based in Robesonia, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1962 and served independent supermarkets and retailers in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. AWI provided a range of services including grocery distribution, retail support, and marketing services.

History

AWI was established in 1962 as a cooperative to help independent grocery stores compete with larger chains. The cooperative model allowed member stores to benefit from collective purchasing power, shared resources, and support services. Over the years, AWI expanded its operations and acquired several other companies to enhance its distribution network.

In 2014, AWI filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by C&S Wholesale Grocers, one of the largest wholesale grocery supply companies in the United States.

AWI operated several distribution centers across the Mid-Atlantic region, providing a wide range of products including grocery, dairy, frozen foods, and general merchandise.
